Regardless from where a test originates, when it is deployed in a course it can have Respondus Lockdown Browser enabled to work with it. If not done when uploading from Respondus 4.0, the exams can then be deployed in the course for students to take. Once uploaded to the Blackboard shell the exam is indistinguishable from ones created in the Blackboard Test Canvas. Mostly because using the Respondus test manager requires the additional step of uploading the exam into the Blackboard course shell. The Blackboard test creation system is better when creating new individual questions. Where Respondus 4.0 excels is in it's ability to automatically convert properly formatted word documents into an online exam format. Respondus 4.0 and Blackboard both allow the instructor to create/originate tests within their respective applications. Respondus Lockdown Browser is a web browser used by students to access and take Blackboard tests. If anything out of the ordinary occurs during the exam, such as someone walking into the room, you should simply explain what happened and continue your test.Respondus 4.0 Campus wide (Test Manager) is a test management software, used by faculty to create tests, quizzes, exams and surveys to administer to students. Your instructor will be given a series of thumbnails to review for any suspicious behavior. The webcam will record both image and audio while you take the exam.Therefore, it is very important that you read ALL instructions provided. The instructor has the ability to change instructions and requirements, so the instructions may be different for different exams.This is to verify that you are the person enrolled in the course. Your webcam will take a still photo of you, and then require you to show your student ID (Or another photo ID approved by your instructor).Respondus will ensure that the webcam is working properly before proceeding. Respondus will ask permission to access your webcam before continuing.If your instructor requires an environment check, you will need an external webcam. You will need a webcam on the computer you use.If you will also be using Respondus Monitor, here is what you need to know! You will not be able to go anywhere in the Internet except for .edu. You may notice that there is no address bar at the top. You will sign in with your username and password as normal and navigate within BlackBoard as always. No screen capture, print, or messaging capabilities will be allowed to run while the browser is open. When you open the browser, you will be asked to either shut down certain programs yourself or to allow the browser to do it for you.If you are using a Mac, you will probably have to open it from Finder. If you do not, use the search box in the start window to find it. If you are using a PC, it is likely that you will have Respondus on your desktop at this point.Now, click the large button on the Respondus site that says, “Finish.”.
